This post is to share a big part of an even bigger transformational journey that I have been on for quite some time. Change has been a comfortable part of my life ever since my high school experience of attending a new school in a new state or country every year. This experience allowed me to reinvent myself, and try on new friend groups with different interests and cultural backgrounds. I learned the art of unattachment and transformation at a very young age.
Many people with the same experience might have interpreted it completely differently. Perhaps they would have avoided change, craving stability and sameness. Fortunately, I decided it was fun, and I can even become a little anxious when I experience too much sameness in my life.
All this is to say that I am once again experiencing another phoenix moment, or Shenix as I like to call her. I embody her on the regular. She has gotten me through the darkest times, knowing that on the other side is renewal, strength, and a new perspective on this crazy thing we call life.
She allows me to see the dark differently. I see the dark times as my greatest teachers. We humans are constantly avoiding feeling negative emotions — band-aiding with food, medications, drugs, alcohol, sex, Netflix, social media… the list of distractions goes on and on. When someone is not living their life authentically, it makes them seek out immediate gratification. No judgments here. I’ve done it all. By no means am I suggesting that I am immune to being human. I have just acquired skills that help me zoom out, see the bigger picture, and allow the dark to show me where the light is.
Dance and teaching dance has allowed me to explore so many beautiful and beautifully uncomfortable aspects of myself and of humanity. It taught me that comparison is the thief of joy, and that some people can be too.
It also allowed me amazing opportunities to travel the world, create art in motion, create collaboratively, and create independently — but mostly it taught me about energy, both light and dark. I have always been pretty intuitive energetically, which I turned into a strength as I navigated the direction and conversations in my lessons and classes. As much as I felt like I was helping my students with both their personal lives and their dance lives, I craved more tools.
I have always been a student of self-growth and personal development. My home library is quite the testament to that. About 10 years ago, I decided to take my learning to the next level and become a certified life coach.
The thought-management tools and space-holding skills I acquired opened up a new direction for my life, my personal dance journey, and that of my students.
Two years ago, I was struggling with clarity of purpose. Dance had been such a clear path for me for almost 28 years. I had risen through the ranks and finally come to a place of completion. This Shenix moment was one of the most challenging to walk through — or burn through, if you will.
I dabbled with different side hustles during the pandemic and eventually landed on Professional Organizing. I honestly didn’t know what I was in for at first, but it all makes perfect sense now.
Many assume organizing is about pretty pantries and color-coded closets, but more often than not it’s about helping people get their lives back. Overwhelm is a beast that can smother all possibilities. By bringing calm to chaos, people start to see the light in the dark again. Often, external clutter reflects internal struggle. As an organizer, I act as a catalyst for change — though true change only sticks when someone is ready.
This brings me to what has confounded me for some time: what ignites true change and transformation? Choosing change is the first step, but to break a pattern, one must first see it. That requires clarity.
When you begin asking QUESTIONS about your life and stop settling for what is, you can finally begin your QUEST.
I spent a lot of time knowing I wanted deeper change for myself and others. I felt called to help, but not knowing how left me in a constant state of unease, confusion, and frustration. This is what led me down the path of soul-level healing — a path that has been both beautiful and profoundly rewarding.
Through my own healing journey and training, I have found clarity and learned tools that help heal on the deepest energetic level — not just the mind and body. I am deeply grateful for this path and excited to create space for others to experience true transformation.
I believe that when we heal the body, mind, heart, and soul together, we become fully present and open to a life filled with possibility. I would be honored to be part of your journey of releasing what no longer serves you and embracing what’s possible.
